Avi Youabian is an Iranian Filmmaker. He was born in Tehran, Iran before moving to Los Angeles, where, at the age of seven, he developed an obsession with making short films with his younger brother.

His directing credits include the 2018 Emmy nominated The Walking Dead: The Red Machete, Zoo, MacGyver, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Magnum P.I., Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, and All American.

Avi began working as an editor at the age of 17, and over the course of his career, his worked has spanned multiple networks and studios. He’s worked on features, television series, and several Pilots that have gone straight to series. He’s closely collaborated with outstanding filmmakers including Greg Berlanti, Gary Fleder, Brad Anderson, David Goyer and Jon M. Chu.

Avi directed the award-winning digital series, Tainted Love – a gritty live action graphic novel starring Orlando Jones, Eric Roberts and Maz Jobrani. Tainted Love was recognized by Variety as one of the “Top 10 Digital Series of 2013.”

Avi grew up in Los Angeles, where he would later graduate from the University of Southern California with a degree in Cinema/Television. Since then Avi has mentored both graduate and undergraduate students from USC.
